A dog food brand in Hemel Hempstead will donate one meal to Rushton Dog Rescue every time someone joins their mailing list or places an order from the website.

As part of Barking Heads’ Paws for Thought incentive, the Santa Paws initiative will run for the whole month of December to gift meals to the charity.

The month-long drive is set to be supported by the charity’s patron Shirlie Kemp and her family.

Rushton Dog Rescue helps abandoned, abused and unwanted dogs on an international scale, its small team works endlessly to rescue dogs from all over the world.

The rescued dogs are nurtured back to health and rehomed with their new families. Since 2007, the charity has saved over 4,000 dogs from heart-breaking situations and shocking environments.

Barking Heads Marketing Director, Julia Anderton said: “Learning about the work Rushton Dog Rescue does to save dogs from horrendous conditions has touched the hearts of our dog-loving team and we jumped at the chance to get involved and help Cindi, Shirlie and the team raise awareness.

"This collaboration is something each one of us feels very passionate about. We hope to donate as many meals as possible through our Santa Paws initiative over the festive season.”

The Barking Heads meals cater for dogs of every age, shape and size making the brand a suitable choice for many of the dogs who have been starved for months on the streets worldwide.

Rushton Dog Rescue founder Cindi McNeil Regan said: “Over the years, we have saved thousands of dogs from the most inhuman and horrific conditions imaginable, but this is just the beginning of their journey.

"When our dogs arrive safely in the UK, some can spend months in rehabilitation due to their injuries and abuse.

"Support from Barking Heads will allow us to nurture our dogs back to health and make sure they can join their new loving homes as soon as possible!”

Earlier this year Rushton Dog Rescue’s patron, singer Shirlie Kemp and her husband Martin, welcomed rescue pup Iris to their family from Rushton.

She said: “We will never know what trauma and distress Iris has been through, but she knows she is safe now and we can’t wait to spend our first Christmas with her.

"Some other dogs aren’t as lucky as Iris so I’m looking forward to helping Barking Heads in its efforts to raise more awareness and funds for the wonderful Rushton Dog Rescue this December, it is a charity so close to my heart.”
