Community spirit celebrated by new Hertfordshire awards

A family and lifestyle website created by a Hertfordshire mum has launched their first business and community awards today (Monday).

Little Ankle Biters Hertfordshire is calling for people across the county to nominate their favourite local family-friendly businesses for the first ever Little Ankle Biters Herts Awards.

The awards will become an annual search for Hertfordshire's most popular local family friendly businesses, they will also honour individuals and organisations who have made an extraordinary impact in their community especially those who have adapted during the covid-19 pandemic.

There are 17 categories in total, all created to shine a light on the talented and hardworking people behind Hertfordshire’s family friendly community.

Little Ankle Biters Hertfordshire is a free website for every member of the family providing trusted reviews of the best activity clubs, days out, classes and child friendly pubs and restaurants, all supported by great tips and advice about how to entertain kids across Hertfordshire.

From today, Little Ankle Biters Herts is calling for nominations of people and businesses who have done and created amazing businesses for families and are an inspiration to everyone.

Businesses with the majority of nominations in each category will be shortlisted and entered into a public vote throughout February.

Penny Joyner-Platt, owner and director of Little Ankle Biters Herts, said: "Little Ankle Biters Herts Awards have been set up to help have a positive impact on people, life and businesses across Hertfordshire.

“Now, more than ever, people have rallied together, and individuals and businesses are performing inspirational acts and extraordinary endeavours to help our county, towns and villages.

"Last year was an enormous challenge for everyone – for parents and carers trying to keep a protective layer of positivity around our family unit, and for family friendly businesses that needed to adapt and change like a chameleon to ensure survival.

“The Little Ankle Biters Herts Awards are nominated and voted for by local people, providing us all with a chance to put a smile on the faces of those who have worked amazingly hard to keep our families safe, happy and entertained."

The categories for the Little Ankle Biters Herts Awards 2021 are:

> Best Charity or not for profit organisation

> Best Independent Business

> Best Pregnancy/Maternity Business

> Best New Business (family friendly business launched in the last 24 months)

> Best New Product/Service (existing family friendly business with new product or service in last 24 months)

> Mumpreneur of the Year

> Best Community Spirit

> Best Family Friendly place to eat (pub, café or restaurant)

> Best Theatre

> Best Museum

> Best soft play

> Best Children’s party entertainer

> Best Children’s party venue

> Best Party supplier

> Best Children’s sports club

> Best Children’s activity class

> Best Family attraction.

Nominations are now open and close on Friday, January 29.

A shortlist will be revealed when voting opens from Tuesday, February 2, followed by a virtual or in-person event to announce the prestigious Little Ankle Biters’ Awards winners, in March 2021.
