Berkhamsted Rotary Club has set up a Covid-19 Relief Fund to support the charities that are helping people during the pandemic.

The Rotary Club has praised the many generous people who have stepped up to help in different ways and the charities that are working harder than ever to meet the appeals for help, and they need more funds to meet the growing demand.

Berkhamsted Rotary is supporting DENS, Open and Door and Dacorum Community Trust, who between them do so much for people in need.

A spokesperson for Berkhamsted Rotary said: "One of our main activities at the Rotary is to support the local community and we choose three charities that have been helping people in Berkhamsted during the pandemic.

"For example, DENS Foodbank has already provided 148 people in Berkhamsted with food parcels this year, and Open Door has cooked 1000 hot meals since lockdown."

As Rotary members can not meet in lockdown, they set up a voluntary scheme for giving part of what they would each spend at meetings to a new Covid-19 Relief fund instead, which they have now opened up to anyone who wants to donate.

The funds will be donated as they come in, to these three charities, where the need is most urgent.
