Pensioner duped out of £200 by couple at Tesco cash machine

Police investigating the theft of £200 from a cash machine outside a supermarket have released images of a man they would like to speak to as he may be able to help with their enquiries.

The incident happened outside Tesco in London Road, Tring at around 3.10pm on Saturday December 20.

A man in his 70s was using a cash machine at the supermarket when he was approached by a man and a woman.

The victim had just entered his pin number when the man started to hit the keypad, causing the victim’s bank card to come out of the ATM.

The man grabbed the bank card but the victim managed to take it back from him, before the man and the woman then walked off towards London Road.

It was later discovered that £200 had been stolen while the victim was distracted.

PC Tom Colvin said: “The victim has been left very shaken by the experience.

“I would like to trace the man pictured as he may have been in the area at the time and could have information which may assist the investigation.

“I would also appeal to anyone else who witnessed the incident to contact me.”
