The society, which currently has around 10 members, meets regularly for everything from supernatural investigations to a night at the movies, and is in the process of building a brand new website.

Enigma spokesman Keith Hughes said: “People will hopefully get to see a ghost or a ghoul, but they can definitely learn about the history of some of the well-known buildings in the Old Town.

“The Olde Kings Arms is reputed to be one of Henry VIII’s haunts, and there was even a paranormal investigation back in the 1990s which had some good results.

“It’s a lot of fun, and very seasonal with Halloween just around the corner.”

The walks will be held on Mondays October 6 and 13, with all participants asked to meet outside the town library o n Combe Street at 7.30pm.

The Olde Kings Arms – which also holds the infamous picture of the White Lady believed to be the ghost of Anne Boleyn – is one of the stops on the walk, along with neighbouring pub the White Hart which has been associated with ghostly goings-on due to the killing of a man in its stairway.
