Leigh Cripps, aged 40, who attended Tring School and Aylesbury College and worked as a postman in Berkhamsted for 10 years, began painting at the age of 18.

His observations of nature while growing up inspired a belief that we are all deeply connected to the land and the changing seasons.

His new book, Secrets of the Seasons, takes the reader on a seasonal journey through the British countryside.

The poems are inspired by walks in places such as Tring Park, Marshcroft Lane in Tring, Wilstone reservoir and Ashridge woods.

Leigh’s observations of the landscape aim to bring the reader closer to Mother Nature and reawaken an appreciation of the countryside and the food and shelter it provides. Secrets of the Seasons is available from Waterstones or from www.youcaxton.co.uk/bookshelf-art

Leigh and his wife, who lived for a time in Australia, returned to the UK after their daughter was born and the family now live in rural Somerset.
