Tim Pilkington is the new rector for St Peter’s Church in Berkhamsted, which has been a focal point in the town’s community since the 13th century and follows an Anglican style of worship, centred on the Eucharistic tradition.

Roast beef.

I don’t have one!

Pottering – whether with the MGB car or in the garden.

Admin work

I wouldn’t bother with the tax return!

The Battle of El Alamein: – anawesome sight in the desert and the first victory in the First World War.

What was the last film you watched?

Zulu on TV at Christmas – a 1964 historical war film depicting the Battle of Rorke’s Drift between the British Army and the Zulus in 1879, during the Anglo-Zulu War, starring Michael Caine.

What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?

Maths O-level: I failed miserably.

What’s the best or worst gift you have ever given or received?

Tea towels for Christmas (Tim didn’t let us know whether this was his best or worst gift, or whether it was given or received, but we suspect the latter in both cases!)

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A doctor.

How would you like to be remembered?
