Faith News (Including Bishop of Bedford joins St Mary’s to Celebrate 150 Years of history)

The service took place at St Mary’s Church and was led by the Reverend of St Mary’s, Jonathon Gordon, and the school head Elly Haezewindt.

Over the recent half term the children were busy interviewing past pupils, making bunting, investigating life at the school in previous decades and experiencing life as Victorian children would have done at the school.

All this activity and interest culminated in a highly enjoyable service featuring songs, dances, memories and prayers spanning many decades.

A spokesman said: “It was with great pride that staff and parents saw the children sing, read and pray with such confidence and enthusiasm.”

To mark this special occasion the Bishop of Bedford presented each pupil with a beautiful prayer book donated by the St Mary’s school association.

St Mary’s has recently been extended with the addition of two new classrooms, drama and music rooms and a new kitchen in order to make the transition from a first school to a primary school going up to Year 6.

Following the service past St Mary’s School pupils and honoured guests had the privilege to witness the Bishop’s blessing and dedication of the extensively refurbished original 1864 school building.

The Oxford Welsh Male Voice Choir: In Peace and Remembrance

The Oxford Welsh Male Voice Choir brought their distinctive skills to Tring to sing a series of pieces on the occasion of the Centenary of the beginning of the First World War yesterday (Saturday).

The Choir is one of Oxford’s longest running choirs and they displayed the unique four-part harmony that makes a choir truly Welsh.

It is a proud to member of the Welsh Association of Male Voice Choirs and has sung at many venues, including the Royal Albert Hall.

The concert featured talented young soprano Hannah Nye and there were readings on the theme of peace and remembrance.

The event took place at St. Peter & St. Paul Church, High Street, Tring and a great time was had by all.

Bahá’u’lláh was born on 12 November 1817 in Tehran, Iran,[2] and this holy day was instituted in the Kitáb-i-Aqdas, his book of laws, where Bahá’u’lláh first refers to four great festivals: the Festival of Ridván, the Declaration of the Báb, the birth of the Báb—who is considered to be a Manifestation of God, and who foretold the coming of Bahá’u’lláh—and the birth of Bahá’u’lláh.
