Challenge Yourself: Have you got what it takes to motivate others to get fit and active?

Some of us may need a bit of extra support to get started especially if we haven’t been active for some time so volunteers are being recruited who can act as buddies for this new initiative.

Get Set Go Dacorum is a ground-breaking project, designed to help local people to get active, get involved and get healthy.

A series of individual and family sports and activities are being held in local neighbourhoods across Dacorum.

The launch event took place in Highfield in September and Grovehill has already hosted a family fun day and back to netball sessions.

January has seen the introduction of football training, judo and ‘go for fit’ classes and there is much more to come.

Get Set Go Dacorum is looking for volunteers to take a ‘hands on’ roll, taking part in the exercise classes and staying in contact with others who attend through email/ text/ phone calls to give them the support they need to stick at it.

Don’t worry if you’re not sporty, you don’t need to be. You just need to be willing to get up and go every week and support others to do the same.

If you would like to know more, book onto a volunteer welcome session at Volunteer Centre Dacorum in the Marlowes.

Sessions will be held on Monday 9th February from 10.30am to 12.30pm and on Tuesday 10th February from 7.30pm to 9pm.

Places are limited so book early to secure your place. Call 01442 214734 for further details.
