Alan Dee’s pick of the week’s TV

Saturday

Take Me Out (ITV1, 7.30pm)

If you’re unfamiliar with the premise of this unashamedly addictive show, where have you been? A bloke stands in front of a gaggle of 30 shrieking ladies and does everything he can to stop them turning their lights out and bowing out of the running in the race to win his heart. The Paddy McGuinness one-liners and quick put-downs make the show. He says: “80 per cent of the show is ad-libbed which suits me down to the ground. You never know what the girls are going to say.”

Sunday

Dancing On Ice (ITV1, 6.30pm)

What’s It All About? Christmas is over, a New Year is upon us, and Strictly Come Dancing withdrawal symptoms are starting to set in.

It can only mean one thing - it’s time for a new series of Dancing on Ice to bring a bit of sparkle to our dull January nights.

Holly Willoughby has now skated off, and Christine Bleakley has stepped in to take over as Phillip Schofield’s co-host.

There have also been changes to the judging panel, with choreographer Louie Spence and Olympic medallist Katrina Witt joining Robin Cousins as the expert assessors.

Monday

Above Suspicion (ITV1, 9pm)

What’s It All About? This story, subtitled Silent Scream, focuses on Amanda Delany, a British actress who has Hollywood eating out of the palm of her hand. She makes the news for all the wrong reasons when, one morning, she’s discovered dead, having been murdered in her own home after returning late from a night on the town.

Adapted by the mighty Lynda La Plante from her own best-selling novel, and inspired by true-life events.

Tuesday

The Exit List (ITV1, 8pm)

With £200,000 up for grabs, a pair of contestants descend into a giant 24-room maze.

Each room contains an amount of cash, but one room, deep in the maze, holds £100,000. The problem is, the further the contestants go in, the harder it is to get out - because to escape with the cash, they must remember The Exit List.

Wednesday

Kym Marsh: Teen Mums And Me (Five, 10pm)

Former Hear’Say songstress Kym Marsh was a teenage mum, and here she connects with others in the same boat and examines the problems they’re up against.

Thursday

Location Location Location (Channel 4, 8pm)

Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer attempt to help two couples navigate the minefield that is the UK property market in the hope of finding their dream homes.

This week Windsor and Maidenhead are on the itinerary.

Friday

Milton Jones’s House of Rooms (channel 4, 10.30pm)

Master of the surreal one-liner and Mock The Week moptop Milton Jones have built up a cult following with live performances and years of radio – and now he gets a TV showcase.

The set-up sees Milton and his mum living together in a big, old house, renting out their spare rooms to a variety of tenants including Alice, a shy, tongue-tied girl who can’t quite communicate with Milton, who’s equally awkward in her presence. Fingers crossed for comedy gold.
