Northchurch street closed as fire breaks out affecting multiple properties

Police have closed nearby roads as they assist the fire service at the scene of a house fire in Northchurch, near Berkhamsted.

Officers are assisting Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue at the scene in Herons Elm.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police said: "We are currently assisting the fire service at the scene of a house fire in Herons Elm, Northchurch.

"Road closures and a 100m cordon are currently in place as a precaution and people are asked to please avoid the area at this time."

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue has sent eight fire engines, an aerial ladder platform, an incident support unit and a command support unit to the scene.

A spokesman for the service said: "Fire affecting the roof areas multiple properties.

"The incident is still ongoing."
