New Tesco Express store opens in Highfield

Alison Jackson and Mary Molloy from Highfield Community Association were the guests of honour when the new Tesco Express store on Fletcher Way recently opened and they were invited to cut a ribbon and declare the new store officially open.

The store is on the site of the old Royal Stag pub, which closed in November 2014. It has created 14 new jobs for the local area.

As part of the opening celebrations on Valentine's Day, store manager, Sanjay Bhadri and his team presented Alison and Mary with a cheque for £500. The store chose to donate to the Highfield Community Association as part of its commitment to supporting the local community.

Highfield Community Association work in the Hemel Hempstead community to provide a location for local community groups to gather, as well as providing services that can be used by local residents. Events and activities at the centre are run on a daily basis and accessible to everyone in the area.

Mr Bhadri said: “We have really enjoyed our store launch celebrations and I would like to thank Alison and Mary for joining us. We are delighted to support the Highfield Community Association with our £500 donation as they are a great charity which provides invaluable services in the Hemel Hempstead community.”Alison Jackson, from Highfield Community Association, said: “I would like to thank Tesco for this generous donation. The money will support the annual Highfield Day celebrations on Saturday August 5. Tesco’s donation will help us to provide free activities on the day for the residents of Hemel Hempstead.”

Sanjay added: “We are delighted to be open and my team are looking forward to serving the local community. Our aim is to deliver our customers fantastic service and prices as well as providing a wide range of quality products. We are hearing very positive feedback from our new customers.”
