An under used pavilion will be converted into a meeting hub for cyclists.
Planning permission has been granted to transform the sports pavilion on Cupid Green playing fields in Redbourn Road, Hemel Hempstead, into a start, stop off and finishing point for cyclists.
The new facility will serve as a legacy to the Tour of Britain 2014 and more recently the Women’s Tour 2015, which concluded in the town last month. It also fits in with Get Set Go - Dacorum’s Sport England funded project to get people active.
A workshop at the Hemel Hempstead Cycle Hub will offer repairs, servicing and maintenance and there will be hire bikes available.
The new hub will also include a cafe, showers, shop and meeting room that will be used for school visits and offered out for hire.
The site is owned by Dacorum Borough Council and planning permission was granted at a meeting of the development control committee last Thursday.
