A motorcyclist and his pillion passenger were rushed to hospital last night with multiple fractures and internal injuries after being involved in a collision with a pizza delivery driver.

The bike passenger was thrown up to 30 metres from the vehicle by the impact, which happened along St Albans Road close to the junction with Longlands in Hemel Hempstead.

Emergency crews, including the Herts air ambulance, two ambulance first response cars and two ambulances, were called just after 7.30pm on Thursday.

The motorcyclist and his passenger, both men aged in their 20s, were taken to London’s St Mary’s Hospital, which specialises in dealing with trauma cases.

Police say the driver of the car - a white Toyota Aygo - was not injured in the crash.

The two men remain in hospital where their condition is described as ‘critical’.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Herts Police via the non-emergency number 101.
