Mother of four died from spinal injuries in car crash, inquest told
A mother of four whose car crashed off a Suffolk road died from spinal injuries, an inquest heard.
Sonya Colton, 29, was found beside Thwaite Road at Thorndon on the morning of December 27 last year.
Today (Monday) an inquest was formally opened at Suffolk Coroners Court in Ipswich.
Assistant Suffolk Coroner Dr Daniel Sharpstone said a passer-by discovered Sonya’s Peugeot 206 car in a ditch in a wooded area by the roadside.
Emergency services were called but she was declared dead at the scene.
Dr Sharpstone said initial medical findings indicated that Sonya died as a result of having suffered spinal injuries. Sonya, who had formerly lived in Victoria Road, Oulton Broad before moving to Roman Way, Stoke Ash four and a half years ago, was mother to four children, the youngest just four months old at the time of her death.
The inquest was adjourned until May 26.
