The event will be at Berkhamsted’s Make Believe Ideas cafe in the Water Lane car park behind Tesco - and additional free one-to-one support will be available.

It follows on from several successful courses that have been run at the venue by Christians Against Poverty money lead coach Mike Wallis.

He said: “With 61% of people feeling financially insecure, previous courses have been found to be particularly useful.”

He said they can help newly retired people, soon-to-be students, mums dealing with mounting bills, families saving for a wedding and everyone in between.

The courses show a system to control finances after setting out a household financial budget with less use of credit and debit cards and more use of cash.

Mr Davis said: “If you know how to save and budget effectively, it can have a hugely positive impact on the whole family.

“With the pressures on household bills people continue to feel the squeeze on their disposable incomes, so we need to make the most of what money we have in order to get through these tough times.

“Many people think that they are the only ones who worry about what they can spend when they go out with friends.

“It is important that they realise that they are not. This course helps set firm foundations for people to control their finances, in many cases for the first time.”

The next course will be on Thursday, September 18, at 7.30pm. To learn more about CAP Money or book your place on it, visit www.capmoney.org or by phoning Mike on 07891 760244 or 01442 865521.
