Memories of brave supermarket colleague George will blossom

A tree has been planted by staff at Woodhall Farm’s Sainsbury’s in memory of a colleague who lost her battle with cancer last year.

The gesture is in honour of former HR manager Georgina Wiseman, better known as George, who passed away in July 2014.

The supermarket’s commercial manager Mike Judge first worked with George at a store in Harpenden back in 2005, when the mum of two was first diagnosed with breast cancer.
The pair then worked together in Hemel Hempstead before brave George discovered she had a tumour on her lung.

During her illness, George celebrated her 40th birthday and married her partner.

Mike said: “The reaction from the colleagues about finally having the tree has been great.

“We are looking forward to spring when the tree will be covered in pink cherry blossom and the bluebells that have been planted around it appear.”

The Woodhall Farm store also hopes to run a week of fundraising for The Watford Peace Hospice, where George spent her final days.
