Three friends who took part in a golf marathon have raised £850 for Macmillan Cancer Support, with more funds expected to flow in.

Daniel Gleeson, Ian Felgate and Adam Cruickshank have been friends for almost 20 years, and on Tuesday, June 9 they managed to complete 72 holes - four rounds of golf - at Shendish Manor in Apsley.

Daniel said: “The event is in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity that has helped us all in some way, shape, or form having relatives and friends who have suffered from cancer, and one we feel deserves the money we raise.”

The weather was kind to the teams, and hospitality offered by the golf course certainly help the trio, who set off just before 6am and then spent 14 hours and 20 minutes on the course.

The annual event sees players walking more than 15 miles, so blisters and some aching arms and legs were the end result, but last year the event raised £740,000.
