Whittle initially claimed to have been visiting an old friend who lived there.

He was detained and arrested by the officer and his story proved not to be true.

Whittle also tried to get rid of a screwdriver he had on him by throwing it into grass nearby, but this was seen by the officer and the tool was retrieved.

He admitted attempted burglary and was sentenced at Luton Crown Court on Tuesday, March 29.
