Make a date to be in the running this summer
All keen runners '“ and superhero runners '“ should put Sunday, July 10 in their diary, because the Hemel 10K is back.
Last year’s fundraiser, organised by Rennie Grove Hospice Care, saw more than 500 runners take part and raise £25,000.
Also back by popular demand will be the 1.5k Superhero Fun Run which invites participants of all ages to take part, for only £5 per person, dressed as their favourite superhero. It is hoped this year’s run raises even more to support patients with life-limiting illnesses, and there’s an added incentive for participants to raise sponsorship.
As well as helping with promotion and doing the warm-up on the day, Dacorum Sports Trust has offered a prize for the biggest fundraiser, plus an annual gym membership worth over £400, which can be used at Sportspace Hemel, Berkhamsted and Longdean.
Elise Hyslop, marketing and communications director at Dacorum Sports Trust, said: “We are delighted to be supporting such a high profile event for Rennie Grove.
“A 10km distance is great for both seasoned runners and beginners who want to set themselves a goal, and we really hope this year even more people will be tempted to join in.”
The Hemel 10k is a challenging multi-terrain course, both on and off road, which is open to anyone aged 14 and over. Participants of all abilities are welcome, and chip timing offers everyone the chance to try and set a personal best time.
It costs £20 to enter with features including chip timing, a technical T-shirt, a medal, water at stations along the route, and snacks at the finish line.
