Lively up yourself as bash gets Jammin’ for Bob’s birthday

Diverse Collective are holding a celebration in honour of the Jamaican music legend at The Red Lion pub in London Road, Nash Mills, Hemel Hempstead.

Held on Saturday, February 7 from 6pm until midnight, the event will be a chance for all those in Hemel Hempstead, Kings Langley, and the surrounding areas to enjoy the music of Robert Nesta Marley and highlight his work, philosophical views and his influence around the world.

The date falls the day after his 70th birthday – he was born on February 6, 1945 on the farm of his maternal grandfather in Nine Mile, Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica.
Starting out in 1963 with The Wailers, Bob’s distinctive songwriting and vocal style resonated with audiences worldwide and he went on to pursue a solo career after The Wailers disbanded in 1974.

His release of the album Exodus in 1977 earned Bob a worldwide reputation and he became on of the world’s best-selling artists of all time, with record sales totalling more than 75 million.

The Buffalo Soldier crooner was also a committed Rastafari, and infused much of his unforgettable music with a sense of spirituality.

During next month’s birthday bash, Caribbean food will be served and Diverse Collective DJs Eddie Bungus, Jimithia, Charley Bendje and Selekta... Jah Bwoy! will be Jammin’ on the decks.

Other reggae artists and singers, yet to be announced, will also take part.

There is no need to buy tickets in advance – on the door entry costs £4 before 9pm and £5 thereafter.
