Listen to these ladies! Album lauched in celebration of women across the globe

Richard Langston of Mighty Media Discs (MMD), based in the Tring Triangle, has teamed up with Folkstock Records for the release of The F Spot: Femme Fatales album which has been described as ‘strong, sensuous, fascinating and feminine’.

Mr Langston is one of the organisers for regular Muzicmeet nights at The Black Horse in Tring, where two of the artists on the album – Minnie Birch and Dariah Kulesh – performed a few weeks ago.

The compilation of ten original self-penned songs – all by women – was released yesterday and spans four generations, from fresh-faced university students to 80-year-old feminist singer Peggy Seegar, whose You Don’t Know How Lucky You Are is the first track.

Mr Langston, who lives with wife Sophie and their toddler daughter Betsy, produced the CDS with a four-page booklet after Folkstock Records owner Helen Meissner came across MMD in her search for a CD manufacturer.

Mr Langston said: “MMD has always prided itself on helping up and coming musicians.

“We are an independently run company and like to help people from start to finish with their projects.

“We also take great pride in working locally with artists and when the chance to work with Folkstock came up we took it with both hands,

“Folkstock is a wonderful local organisation with a similar ethos to ourselves and to help put together their latest CD for International Women’s Day was an honour.”

Helen, whose 19-year-old daughter Lauren Deakin Davies is one of the artists featured on the album, said: “When I was searching for a cd manufacturer for our releases, I came across MMD.

“Not only do they pride themselves on offering high quality, professional yet affordable manufacturing solutions for musicians, they also run regular showcase events in Tring at the Black Horse, under the name of Muzicmeet.

“Their supportive and attentive customer service has ensured we have professional packaging, and the superb colour reproduction has meant that we are likely to generate a review in The Sunday Times and also a world wide distribution deal for the physical CD with the top company for our genre.”

She said of the album: “I am hoping it will demonstrate the diversity between female singer songwriters even within the narrow spectrum of ‘folk/acoustic’, let alone any other genres.

“This is especially for those who have said to female acts in the past: ‘we’ve already got an all female act on the line up’.

“It’s time for action and this album is part of that action - I hope you agree.”
