During the evening Tring Lions president Mick Claxton presented a cheque for £5,500 to chief executive of the Chilterns MS Centre Robert Breakwell.

The donation was made on behalf of other local lions clubs, along with Tring other contributors were Berkhamsted, Hemel Hempstead and Watford clubs.

Mr Claxton also used the event as an opportunity to promote the Message in a Wallet scheme, which encourages people to record medication requirements, next of kin and other important details to keep in their wallet or purse, so that they can quickly receive the right treatment should they fall ill while out and about.

The initiative is being rolled out across the district by other participating lions clubs.
