Knife assault victim throws bike at attacker

A 19-year-old man was assaulted by a man holding a knife in a broad-daylight attack.

At around 11.45am on Monday, August 1, the victim was riding his bike in Henry Wells Square, Grovehill, Hemel Hempstead when he was assaulted by a man holding a knife.

The cyclist suffered a small cut to his left thigh before getting off off his bike and throwing it at the offender.

The attacker then ran off with another person towards the Aycliffe Drive area.

Detective Constable Yolanda Morales-Willis, who is investigating, said: “This was a targeted attack where the victim and offender are known to each other.

“Thankfully the victim was not seriously injured.

“The assault occurred in the middle of the day outside Grovehill shops where I am sure many people will have seen what happened.

“If you saw the assault or have any information about the incident, please call me on 101, quoting crime reference D1/16/5533.”
