She said: “It’s fantastic to have reached the finals, I feel extremely proud.

“I’m celebrating 10 years in business this year and I couldn’t have got this far without the support of family, friends, clients and suppliers.

“Most of my clients and suppliers are local so I also get to see the benefits that they bring to the local community.”

Kate, who lives with husband Ben, 42, and their nine-year-old cat Frank, has been in the graphic design industry since she left school.

She first broke out on her own after she was made redundant and finished off a few projects before making the decision to go it alone.

Debbie Gilbert, founder of the awards, said: ‘The awards are all about showcasing great women who are running a business around a family or commitments. The standard was very high so to be shortlisted is a major achievement.”
