John Bly switches on care home’s Christmas lights

John Bly, who is best known for his appearances on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow, flicked the switch to turn on the colourful Christmas lights at St Joesph’s Care Home in Tring.

Local man Mr Bly began his career at Sotheby’s before working at his great grandfather’s auction house in Tring, and his mother was a resident at the care home – owned by B&M – in the early 1990s when it first opened.

Also there was B&M chairman William Hughes who brought along his vintage Bentley and joined in with the celebrations.

Home manager Karen Wessels has only been in her newpost for two months but says the residents and staff have been ‘very welcoming’.

She said of the Christmas event: “The ambience was lovely and all the staff, residents and their families really enjoyed themselves. Everyone was commenting on the lights.”
