Mayor of Dacorum Allan Lawson and borough councillor Neil Harden presented with a framed GB cycling jersey by Peter Cox British Cycling following the Tour of Britain

The framed keepsake was presented to borough mayor Allan Lawson and councillor Neil Harden by Peter Cox of British Cycling, to acknowledge the area’s work to encourage people to take up cycling.

As well as working together on the historic stage six finish of the sporting event last month, the council has worked with British Cycling to promote Sky Ride, a national initiative to get more bikers out on the roads.

Councillor Harden said: “We are proud of our relationship with British Cycling which promotes cycling in Dacorum.

“The Tour of Britain was the greatest sporting event the borough has ever held and we were delighted to work with British Cycling to organise the Stage 6 finish which saw thousands of people lining the streets to support the cyclists.

“We also support British Cycling’s Sky Ride initiative which offers guided rides to people of all ages and abilities.

“Our drive to get more people involved in sport is being continued through Get set, go Dacorum our initiative to provide more sporting opportunities in the borough.”

The sporting scheme launched last month, and new female-only and family events are starting up from this week.
