Hi-tech 3D printer to benefit disabled

An Abbots Langley-based disability charity is to be one of the latest organisations to move3D printing from the realm of sci-fi to reality.

For more than a year , the design for disability charity DEMAND has been tirelessly fundraising and is now – thanks to the generosity of donors – the proud owner of a Cube Pro 3D Printer.

3D printing has infinite uses including in regenerative medicine, and is increasingly becoming headline news. A DEMAND design spokesman said: “Embracing this new technology within the charity means that we can broaden the scope of equipment and help we give, particularly with a more specific design. Whilst it is early days with the Cube Pro 3D printer, it is beginning to prove its worth.”

The device, which builds layers of criss-crossing liquid plastic to form its finished product, will help DEMAND provide liberating solutions to improve quality of life and widen access to sporting and leisure opportunities for people with disabilities.
