'˜He's a great guy and worthy Olympian': MP congratulates double gold medallist Max Whitlock

Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning has added his congratulations to Max Whitlock after the gymnast won two gold medals at Rio 2016.

Whitlock made history yesterday when his floor routine landed him the first ever Olympic gold for a British gymnast.

The 23 year old, who was born in Hemel Hempstead, then won the pommel horse competition to take his medal haul to two golds and one bronze at the games.

“What an incredible achievement for Max,” Mr Penning said. “I’m an honoured to have met him and his wonderful family several times and I am delighted at this result.
