Heritage: Got a new camera for Christmas? Help town mark 700 years

Well this year marks a special milestone in Tring as it is the town’s 700th anniversary since its market charter and Tring and District Camera Club has just the idea for those snaps.

The club promotes interest and practice in good photography of all forms, enabling members – novices to experts – to improve their photographic ability. The Club welcomes new members of all ages, young-to-old.

The club actively engages with the wider Tring and District Community which includes the celebrations of the ‘Charter 700’.

The club is running two activities supporting the celebrations, including an Archive Project, recording Tring life, environment and events throughout 2015.

There will also be an Open Competition to capture the best creative images of Tring from across the community.

A spokesman for the club said: “These two projects will create an album of Tring Life and Times in 2015 for the benefit of future generations.

“The project’s output will be an archive to sit alongside the work of earlier generations, such as the well-known Grace collection of images of Edwardian life and which many have enjoyed.

“This exciting project for 2015 is part of the club’s active program that includes internal competitions – print and digital, practical photographic evening’s with cameras, workshops on photographic techniques, site visits and guest speakers.”

If you are interested in joining or are curious about the club’s program visit its open evening tomorrow (Thursday) where you can meet and talk to members, see a range of images from the membership and join in workshop sessions. Doors will open at 7.30pm at Temperance Hall, Christchurch Road, Tring, HP23 4EE.
