Hemel golden boy Max Whitlock makes history at Rio 2016
Max Whitlock won two gold medals in two hours as he became the first British gymnast to win Olympic gold.
Whitlock, who grew up in Hemel Hempstead, won the floor and the pommel horse competitions.
It means the 23 year old now has three medals at the games after also winning bronze in the men’s individual all-around.
Whitlock’s medals helped Team GB move up to 13 golds in Rio which takes their overall tally to 35.
As the second-last gymnast to take to the pommel, Whitlock’s 15.966 pushed Team GB team-mate Louis Smith into silver.
