Hemel falls short in UK high street competition

Hemel Hempstead has fallen at the last hurdle in the Great British High Street Awards.

The town was shortlisted for the final three in the category for those with a population of 30,000 people, but missed out today to Blackburn in Lancashire.

The competition is run by the government, and offers towns to win a share of a prize pot worth £100,000.
