Have Julea’s Halloween horrors created the spookiest garden in town?

Homeowner Julea Arthur certainly thinks so, as she’s spent hours kitting out her front yard with freakish features to frighten trick or treaters this Halloween.

The 54 year old, who lives in Sunnyhill Road, Boxmoor, loves all things scary and has built up a creepy collection of artefects over the last few years.

Julea spent last year’s spooky season travelling around New England in the US, visiting supposedly haunted houses and picking up the perfect props for her very own ghoulish grotto.

She said: “I’ve now got three animated Halloween characters with various other things hanging from my gazebo such as spider webs and lights, and have some scarecrows guarding the garden.

“It’s pretty scary – even some of my adult friends have been frightened by it.”

The fear fanatic is tying in her efforts with a charity bid in aid of the charity Action for Hearing Loss.

Julea will be taking on the terrifying task of climbing 842 steps up the BT Tower tomorrow –which is Halloween itself.

She has so far raised almost three quarters of her £200 target, and will of course carry out the frightening feat in full fancy dress before rushing back home in time for trick or treaters who can also donate to her cause using a collection box.

She said: “I am fascinated and gripped by Halloween. I used to hate being scared but I have got past that now – I love the adrenaline rush of fear and seeing people’s reactions.”
