A police helicopter was dispatched to a field in Hemel Hempstead after a member of the public was concerned when hearing gunshots.

The chopper was called to Cherry Tree Lane in Hemel Hempstead at around 3pm on Sunday, September 6.

Officers attended on the ground and, with assistance from the helicopter, they located two men in a field.

But it became clear that the men were shooting pigeons and had permission from the land owner to do so.

A spokesman for Herts Police said information about the incident was passed on to the firearms licensing department.
