A pensioner who cut her face after falling in a Hemel Hempstead shop has thanked the people that came to her aid.

Mrs Milmer, 76, who did not disclose her first name, fell heavily in the Wilko store in the town centre, cutting her face in the process.

Dazed by the incident, Mrs Milmer was thankful for the help of staff and in particular one woman who was also shopping who held bandages on the pensioner’s head until paramedics arrived.

Mrs Milmer said: “It was a bad fall and we didn’t manage to get the woman’s name who had so kindly stopped to help. So I wanted to say ‘thank you’ to all the staff and that woman and hopefully she reads this, thank you for helping me.”

In a separate incident in the town centre outside Boots on Saturday, a man and woman stayed with a pensioner for an hour after she “fell ill”.

Aatma Seesurrun, of Northchurch, issued a public thank you message on the Everything Berko Facebook page, to show her appreciation to the kind-hearted pair for looking after her mother and ‘restoring her faith in humanity’.

She said: “I’m not sure whether this person will see this, but I wanted to sincerely thank the kind hearted lady and gentleman who stayed with my mum outside Boots in Hemel Hempstead when she was taken poorly.

“They waited with her for nearly one hour until we got there. Their unbelievable kindness has restored my faith in humanity, especially with what is going on in the world today.

“If anyone knows who they are, I would like to thank them again and give them a token of our sincere appreciation.”
