Glow for it at the Hospice of St Francis Midnight Walk

The Berkhamsted-based charity’s regular Midnight Walk event is back and features a brand new glowing theme and revised route around Hemel Hempstead.

This year, the palliative care organisation is asking the community to dig out its best orange, yellow, green and pink neon accessories, slap on some UV face paint to walk a five or 10 mile route on Saturday, June 27. The action kicks off at 9pm at Hemel Hempstead School, taking walkers to the borders of Kings Langley, then onto Old Town, Warners End and Chaulden. Hospice staff will cheer walkers over the finishing line with a medal and breakfast.

The hospice’s head of community fundraising Harriet Karia said: “We’re glowing with excitement about this year’s Midnight Walk and just can’t wait to Glow for It!

“With hundreds of walkers predicted, walking for fun or in memory of someone special, and local businesses and residents along the route glowing neon for the Hospice, it’s going to be a spectacular event.”

Registration is just £20, including a Glow for It T-shirt, and participants are asked to collect sponsorship to help fund the Hospice’s £4.7million annual running costs.

Just £50 would pay for a one hour home visit by a Hospice nurse, while £100 could pay for Hospice mini-bus transport for the day.
