Getting all fired up for 50th firework fest

Organisers of the town’s Festival of Fire – which this year marks its half-century – have lined up three of the area’s best young bands to light up the stage at Tring Park Cricket Club.

Blind Summit, In General and The Reverie will be performing on stage either side of the spectacular fireworks display, which takes place on on Saturday, November8.

Blind Summit is a newly formed band of current and former Tring School students, while In General are returning for their second Festival of Fire appearance.

The indie rock band’s guitarist and lead vocalist Matt Wake, 15, said: “We had a blast last year in front of such a large crowd in our home town.

“It will be great to come back and show how far we’ve come over the last 12 months”.

The Reverie will close the show. Lead singer Dom Cox, who has helped many young musicians in Tring through his work with the Rock School scheme, said: “It’s a top line up of local Tring talent and I’m sure all three bands will put on a rocking good show. We’re delighted to be a part of it.”

Additionally, The Max Choir, AllStars Academy, the Court Youth Theatre, the Vivo Darte girls’ choir and a musical ensemble from Tring School. will also be providing entertainment on the night.

Tring Park Cricket Club President Peter Haynes, whose personal involvement in the club’s hosting of the annual fireworks event first started in 1966, said: “It’s wonderful to have such fabulous local talent as part of our special anniversary event.”

Tickets for the Festival of Fire are now on sale and can be bought from the Akeman, Sterling Estate Agents, Tring Brewery, Beechwood Fine Foods or behind the bar at the Cricket Club.

On the gate tickets are priced for families at £16, adults £6 and children under sixteen at £4. Under five year olds have free entry.
