Finding out what it's like to live with dementia
People in Redbourn had the chance to find out what living with dementia is really like, when the Virtual Dementia Tour (VDT) visited St Matthew's Care Home, owned by B&M Care.
By using patented devices that alter the senses, participants were guided through a number of common everyday tasks and exercises in order to experience the physical and mental challenges that people with dementia face.
Since the UK launch of the VDT in January 2016, B&M Care has used the tour to train over 1,200 members of its care staff and give them a better understanding of residents’ behaviours and needs.
Visitor Emily Taplin said: “It explained a lot about the behaviour I have seen from my mother.”
