The Festival of Flowers and Art takes place at St Lawrence Church in Bovingdon on Saturday (August 29) through to Bank Holiday Monday (August 31).

In addition to the beautiful blooms filling the ancient building, there will be musical events on the Saturday and Sunday evenings and an antique auction on Monday.

An experienced team of arrangers headed by Jane West and Ann Hayward will fill the church with beauty and fragrance.

The art show will feature works for sale by seven well known local artists including Liz Hobson and Marion Perkins, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and member of the Society of Botantical Artists.

There will also be displays of quilts made by local crafts people and paintings from The Mount Prison and by children from Bovingdon Primary Academy.

The flower festival and art show will be open from 10.30am - 5pm on Saturday, noon - 5pm on Sunday and 10.30am - 5pm on Monday.

Refreshments will be available throughout.

A concert of music and poetry for a summer evening will be held at 7.30pm on Saturday, given by members of Harrow Opera and the Bovingdon Players. And a Songs of Praise service will be held at 6pm on Sunday. On Monday, Stephen Hearn from Tring Market will conduct an antiques valuation and auction.

All funds raised will go to The Friends of St Lawrence Trust.

The Reverend Charles Burch, vicar of Bovingdon, said: “We are immensely grateful to a band of talented local people who are giving up a lot of their time to put on what I know will be a stunning display of flowers, art and craft.”
