Stories at www.hertspastpolicing.org.uk have been put together by Bishops Stortford Museum, Hertfordshire Archives, Hertfordshire Constabulary Historical Society and dozens of volunteers, and include the case of the missing ferret and the boy scout spy.

The work took three years to complete and was made possible by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Project Officer Emma Steed said: “The stories contained within the site are truly remarkable and give a fascinating insight into Hertfordshire society 100 years ago.”
