Feline hungry? Treats for cubs

IT was Hallowe’en treats with a twist at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo yesterday, October 19.

For instead of the usual sweets and chocolate enjoyed by children on the spooky occasion, the zoo’s five new cheetah cubs were served up their first proper meaty dinner in carved pumpkins.

Mother of the baby bundles Dubai has been trying to tempt the cute fivesome with titbits from her own meals of chicken and raw meat, but it was the first time the siblings all shared a meal together.

Keepers came up with the idea, which is both healthy and a form of enrichment for the cubs, who had to claw their way through the pumpkins to find their food.

Hallowe’en is being celebrated at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo with a special scary theme week of activities called Boo At The Zoo, from Saturday, October 23, until Sunday, October 31.

The spook-tacular events and gives children the opportunity to learn to perfect a blood-curdling wolf cry, learn about the mystical wolverine with its long sharp claws and handle bugs and creepy crawlies in the activity room.
