A dad who spent three days setting up a charity Halloween display at his home is now looking forward to spending a fortnight getting his festive extravaganza ready for action.

Jason Evans and fiancé Vikki Box started decorating the front garden of their home in Great Elms Road, Hemel Hempstead, three years ago and it gets bigger every year.

The couple, who have a five year old son, raised £50 on the spookiest night of the year, which will go to Team Macy - a fundraising group set up by the Leverstock Green parents of baby Macy Cruickshanks, who died from congenital heart defect when she was just weeks old.

Electrician Jason, 42, said: “This year we had an amazing turn out and got a fair bit of money for charity.
“The best thing is seeing the children’s faces when they come past. They love it. It makes it all worth while.”

Now the couple are getting ready for their Christmas display, which takes a year to organise but Jason who is an electronics fan admits he loves doing it.

“I love doing computer controlled lights, I’m into electronics and have been my whole life,” he said.

More than 15,000 LED lights are programmed to music and a four metre tall Christmas tree with 5,100 lights completes the festive display. Jason said: “We do upstairs, downstairs, the whole of the front and on the roof.”
