Commissioning of new Rural Dean in Hemel Hempstead

The Archdeacon of St Albans The Venerable Jonathan Smith commissioned The Reverend Lizzie Hood as Rural Dean of Hemel Hempstead at 7.30 on Tuesday, January 27 at Holy Trinity Church,Leverstock Green.

He also welcomed The Reverend Mike Macey as Assistant Rural Dean and paid tribute to David Lawson, the outgoing Rural Dean .

The new post will be a five-year appointment.

The service provided an opportunity for all the Anglican Churches in Hemel Hempstead to come together for worship and to forge friendships.

It was very well attended by Clergy and parishioners from across the Deanery, and also the Mayor and Mayoress. A supper was provided afterwards which allowed the guests and congregation to mingle and get to know each other.

A New Horizon for Senior Pastor Lillian

Lillian Andreasen has become the Senior Pastor of New Horizons Christian Fellowship, Hemel Hempstead.

Lillian is one of the found­ing mem­bers and has been a leader and a pas­tor in the church since its begin­ning in October 1998.

She was installed on Saturday, January 24, when the church prayed for her.

Lillian will be work­ing part-time for the church from April and will con­tinue work­ing for WorldShapers as well.

She will be involved in train­ing lead­ers in the UK and abroad.

Lillian has for the last few years been the Children’s Centre Manager of three centres as part of her work for WorldShapers. The children’s centres have been work­ing with more than 2,000 fam­il­ies each year in Dacorum.

Lillian’s work has includ­ed lead­ing par­ent­ing courses, the free­dom pro­gramme for women suf­fer­ing from domestic abuse and the super­vi­sion of staff.

Come along to table top sale at Ashley Green

St Johns Church in Ashley Green, near Berkhamsted, is running a table top sale in the afternoon of Saturday, February 21 in the Memorial Hall.

The sale takes place from 1pm to 4pm. There is an admission charge of 50p and children aged 11 and undergo free.

All buyers are encouraged, with the Church drawing support from both Chesham and Berkhamsted.

Candlemas at All Saints Berkhamsted

The Chair of the Herts, Beds and Essex District of the Methodist Church the Revd Anne Brown visited All Saints Church to conduct a special Candlemas service on Sunday, February 1.

The Anglican/Methodist Local Ecumenical Project has been worshipping as a single congregation for some years.

Candles were lit and Christ the Light of the World was celebrated.

On Ash Wednesday, February 18, the church will be open for a Day of Prayer to mark the beginning of Lent.

A break in relationship is horrible. Unforgiveness and resentment are powerful, impenetrable barriers. We avoid contact because it’s painful.  Even when we want to restore a relationship, the unseen barrier is there. Individuals, families, churches can be destroyed. God hates unforgiveness and warns: “If you do not forgive … your Father will not forgive you your sins.” Aware of our need, God has provided the way to remove this barrier.  By trusting in Jesus Chris, His only begotten son, we have God’s forgiveness for all our sins, and receive the power to forgive others.
