London Midland will be running additional services for the games at the three stadiums, while some existing services will have additional stops or carriages added during the tournament.

But the train company is also advising rail travellers that services will be busy on match days, and passengers should allow extra time to make their journeys.

And fans travelling to the games at Villa Park on September 26 and 27 are also being warned that Birmingham will be particularly busy as this will be the first weekend when the new Grand Central shopping centre will be open above New Street station.

Terry Oliver, London Midland’s head of West Coast services, said, “Our message is it will be busy, there are other events going on as well, so plan ahead, expect queuing systems to be in operation and don’t leave it till the last train or you may be disappointed.”
