The county constabulary is putting the frighteners on those taking advantage of the freaky festivities to consider how bad behaviour could affect their neighbours – following on from previous years when anti-social behaviour has caused distress and worry to many across Herts.

Officers will once again heighten their presence in the days surrounding Halloween and Bonfire Night, while Safer Neighbourhood Teams across the county will be working with local councils, the Fire and Rescue Service and businesses to make sure anti-social behaviour remains low.

Chief Insp David Partridge, co-ordinating the spooky set-up, said: “Halloween and Bonfire Night should be about people having fun and enjoying themselves. However, some people dread this time of year and may even feel frightened or intimidated.

“We want everyone to enjoy themselves, but damage to property, causing injury or intimidating people are crimes and will not be tolerated. There will be more officers on patrol during the week as a reassuring presence, deter troublemakers and to react quickly in case of issues.”
