Selected from around 15,000 site managers across the country, Dennis of CALA Homes Ltd was named Southern champion, winning the Medium Builder Category for his work on the Dixons Wharf site in Wilstone, Tring.

He is now shortlisted for the competition’s Supreme Gala Final in January, where the national champions will be announced.

The Pride in the Job Awards are run by NHBC, the UK’s leading new-home warranty provider.

Nick Cunningham, NHBC regional director, congratulated Dennis on his win: “Dennis is building some of the very best houses in the UK, demonstrating consistently high standards, and is in the top half a percent of his profession.”

Dennis said he enjoys the challenges and sense of achievement in his job.

He said: “I am immensely proud of this award.

“I’ve chased this award for many years, and although have been on winning teams, this is the first I have won on my own merits.”
