Ellie the brownie and the Day of the Girl: 17-year-old Ashlyns student at national girlguiding meeting

Ellie Dibben, 17, of Potten End, travelled to a meeting of Girlguiding’s national youth panel Advocate.

During the ensuing weekend event, Ellie and 17 other Advocates received campaigning training, discussed Girlguiding’s current Girls Matter campaign, met with visitors from the international development charity ActionAid and discussed Girlguiding’s 2014 Girls’ Attitudes Survey.

Ellie, a Young Leader with the 1st Potten End Brownies, said: “It was really interesting hearing about ActionAid’s work internationally to think about how we can help improve the lives of girls everywhere. The challenges facing girls are international and it is important to remember that we are part of a worldwide community.”

Ellie is now studying English, history and maths at Ashlyns School in Berkhamsted.

Made up of young women in guiding aged between 14 and 25, Girlguiding’s Advocate panel meets three times each year. They are the young women behind the charity’s support of the No More Page 3 campaign.
