Young people are being given the chance to earn while they learn by kick-starting their career in the care sector.

Those aged 16 to 24, from Hemel Hempstead and the surrounding area, are being invited to apply for a place on Hertfordshire County Council’s level one health and social care trainee programme.

Current trainee Bex Taylor, 21, said: “The good thing about the programme is you get to experience everything. You learn about the different aspects of care, as well as how to manage things outside of work like money and budgeting.”

Successful applicants will earn £110 per week while they gain practical experience and industry recognised qualifications.

The trainee programme starts in September, running over a year including six weeks paid holiday.
