Drugs stolen from vet in burglary spree
Drugs used to put animals to sleep were stolen from a vet during a string of burglaries over the weekend.
The incidents occurred at several businesses in Redbourn and Harpenden overnight between Friday, August 12 into Saturday, August 13.
In one of the burglaries, crooks broke into Medivet in Redbourn High Street after forcing their way in via a fire exit.
They broke into a medical cabinet before taking pentobarbital, a euthanasia drug, and animal grade diazepam.
Detective Inspector Pete Frost, from the Local Crime Unit, said: “Both these drugs are harmful to humans and I would appeal to anyone who may know of the whereabouts of these items to please contact us.”
The burglars also took a charity box from the vets.
Other incidents occurred at:
> Alex’s hairdressers in Harpenden where offender(s) forced entry and took a cash box and clothes;
> GG Beauty in High Street, Redbourn, where offender(s) removed a piece of glass to gain entry and stole a computer and cash;
> Parker and Vine delicatessen in Leyton Road, Harpenden, where offender(s) attempted to force entry to the property but were unsuccessful;
> LC Western funeral directors where offender(s) smashed a window and stole cash;
> Doggy Day Spa where offender(s) forced open a window and took a charity tin;
> The Floor Shop where offender(s) attempted to force a door.
DI Frost added: “We believe some of these incidents are linked and I would appeal to anyone who has any information about who may be responsible to please contact police.
“I would also appeal to anyone who was near any of the locations overnight on Friday into Saturday and saw anything suspicious to please contact officers.”
