At 89 years old, Doris Finesilver is the proud matriarch of a family of five generations.

Doris, who has been a tenant at Hemel Hempstead’s Maitland Joseph House supported living scheme since 2008, was born in the East End of London in 1926.

In April 1947, Doris married Joe and they had three children.

Eldest daughter Frances had four children and her eldest daughter, Georgia, has two children, David and Rebecca.

David has a seven-year-old daughter, Chloe, and Rebecca has two daughters, Freya, aged four, and Kaira aged two.

Doris chose Maitland Joseph House, run by jLiving, because she wanted to live independently but know that help is close by if required. It also enabled her to move close to her daughter Frances.

Doris said “I have the best of both worlds here at Maitland Joseph House and I have been extremely happy living here for eight years now. I have made some great friends and the staff are fantastic.”

One of Doris’ granddaughters took the photo, above, of five generations of the same family at a recent wedding.
